REFLECTION
ON THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION
BY
BABA
ALI MUSTAPHA
To
start our discussions (research) it would be imperative to review in brief the
church, the articles of faith of the Christians and their authoritative source,
that is the bible.
The
term “church “means the body of Christians, or more precisely, the professional
priesthood which has taken upon itself
the task of formulating doctrine and rituals as well as rendering certain
religious services in accordance with what are believed to be the teaching of
Jesus Christ.
The
church may also mean the sect to which are individual Christians belongs. Now
let us have a look at the source of guidance for the Christians. The word bible
is the bedrock of Christian’s belief. The word Bible came from the Greek word
meaning BIBLIA meaning book. Admittedly the bible is a collection of many books
written by a large number of authors known and unknown.
But
those authors are believed to have been inspired by God and they wrote the book
under the supervision and guidance of God.
It would be important at this juncture for
the reader to know that the Catholic bible, is somehow different from the
Protestants bible. The former consist of 73 books, while the letters has only
66 books. The officially accepted books by the main body of Christian’s church
are called “canonical” it is these canonicals books of the bible which are
regarded as THE WORD OF GOD.
All
the main Christians churches, or sect, fearch the following as the principle
dogmas(articles of farth) to be believed in without question.
1. There
is one God
2. In
God there are 3 divine persons, the father, the son and the Holy Ghost. Those
three persons are called the blessed those three persons are called the blessed
TRINITY. They are all equal and they have no beginning and no end (eternal).
They are not 3Gods but one.
3. The
father is God and the first person of the trinity.
4. The
son is God and the second person of the trinity. He is Jesus Christ who is God,
whom took human form. He was born of the Virgin Mary about 2018yeras ago in
Palestine. Was crucified died and rose again from the dead. His death and
sufferings on the cross was intended to be sacrifice for the forgiveness of the
sins of men. This is called atonement, and he is entitlied the saviour and redeemer
5. The
holy spirit is the third person of the blessed trinity. After the death of
Jesus Christ the holy spirit descended upon the apostles (early missionaries)
of Christ, and the spirit continues to lead the church-mark you there is still
only one God.
6. Every
human child bears with him the stain of what called THE ORIGINAL SIN inherited
from ADAM.
7. Baptism,
the ceremony of sprinkling somebody with water or according to some sect,
immersing him in water, as marking his being accepted as a member of the church,
and belief in Jesus Christ atonement is the only means whereby man shall be
saved.
On
the other hand all Muslims believes in one God Allah, the omnipotent, most
gracious, the sustainer, the all-knowing, and the merciful. The lord of the
heaven and earth.
We also believed in all the apostles of
Allah.
From
Adam down toMoses, Isaac, Abraham, Joseph, Jacob, Jesus and Muhammed (SAW), the
last of messenger. Every Muslims believed that all those prophets and
messengers of God thought nothing but
the worship of one go, the creator and total submission of one self and
property to the commandments of Allah.
In contrast to the Christians, the
Muslimspositive is very clear, word over in that at we believed that:
1. Sin
is not inherited.
2. The
trinity is fabrication
3. Jesus
is not God
4. God
doesn’t beget son and daughters
5. Christ
was neither killed nor crucified
Those doctrine are expounded in he must
unambiguous terms in the holy Quran.
Now let us examine the sacred doctrines of
the and some aspect of Christians belief in the light of the writing of the
bible which the church accepted as canonical.
THE
ORIGINAL SIN
In
the Old Testament the story of creation and fall on man was giving, thus was
described of the fall of Adam from grace.
The
lord god took man and put him inside Garden of Eden to fill and keep it. And
the lord God commanded the man, saying “you may freely eat of every tree of the
garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of God and evil you shall not eat, for
in the day that you eat of it you shall die” Genesis 2:15-16.
Adam, however, persuaded by his wife, Eve
transgressed Gods command and ate of the forbidden tree of knowledge. God
cursed them both on account of adams sin all human being are born deprived of
sanctifying grace and inherit his punishment.
Place
about in both the old and New Testament which discredit this assertion. Some of
which are; the father shall not be put to death for the children, nor for the
children be put to death for the fathers; every man shall be put to death for
his own sins.
Deuteronomy 24.16
And in Ezekiel it is more categorically
stated; yet you say, why should not be the sons suffer for the iniquity of the
son,
Ezekiel 18:19-20
Contrary
to the teaching of the church, which goes under his name, that all children rae
born in si, Jesus Christ confirms their innocence in the following passage from
the Gospel according to Mathew;
“truly, I say to you, unless you turn and
become like children you will not never enter the kingdom of heaven”
Mathew 18:13
It
is hope that these quotations provide enough food for thought for the averagely
intelligent reader.
GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON AND GOD THE HOLY GHOS.
Now
let us look at the concept of trinity and try to see what the bible says about
it. Critical analysis some verses of the bible show in unambiguous and clear
term that Jesus is not God, not the son of God, nor part of God. And that the
idea of 3 in one has no basis whatsoever.
The bible clearly shows that there is only
God, the creator and the master of the day of judgments. He did not resemble
anything and nothing is comparable to him.
Now let us read from the bible.
“ye
men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a MAN approved of God
signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourself also know”
Accts 2:22
This
verse is telling us in clear language that Jesus is a man, if Jesus is a man
than automatically he is not God.
And
we read again
“And I tell at this feet to worship him.
And he said unto me, see thou do it not:
I am they fellow SERVANT, and of the brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:
worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”
In
this verse Jesus is saying that he is the servant of God. And that he should
not be worshipped. Is is a common knowledge that a servant surrender to the
will of the master. If you are a servant then you cannot be the maters at the
sometimes- can you?
“I
can of mine own self do nothing; as I hear, because I seek not mine over will,
but the will of the father which hath send me”. John 5:3
Jesus
here is telling us that on his own self he can do nothing. And that he is a
messenger and convey only the will of that whom hath send him. Someone who
cannot do anything by himself, can on no account be qualified to be God.
“ye
have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again onto . if ye love me,
ye would rejoice, because I said. I go unto the father; for y father is greater
than I”
John 14:28
If
the father is greater than the son then 2 are not equal. This verse
disqualified Jesus to be Go. All over the world even a nursery school pupil
known that the arithmetical quotation: “> and -”. (Greater and equal) are
not some, and cannot be equal. They signify two different things.
“And
this is life eternal. That they might know and only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom thou hath sent” John 17:3
The
verse is telling us that there is only one true God and that Jesus is a
messenger and servant of some.
Only true God, any Christians who believes in
what the bible says and happens to come across this rivers, then he/she have no
focus stand to belief in any way the theory og three in one, a concept which
not even the worst arithmetician can
accept nor even the least mathematician can understand let alone convince
anybody.
It is here necessary to remain readers that
the bible was not revealed in English language. In the orthodox language in
which the bible was revealed, the word now translated as father into English
language meant the God, the Lord , and who is the Lord, the father. Actually
that is the message the word father was meant to convey.
Let us see one more verse on this issue.
Jesus says;
“but now you seek to kill me, a man that
hath told you the truth, which I have
heard of God; this did not Abraham ” John 8:40
If
Jesus is God as claimed by the Christians instead of saying “ I AM MAN” in this
verse he should have said “I AM GOD” indeed the language is very plain.
Other relevant verses are John 13:16,
John 20:17 and mark 13:52.
THE SAVIOUR
Ask
any Christian you happen to come across, WHO IS YOUR SAVIOUR? The answer is
without doubt, and in confidence; “JESUS IS MY SAVIOUR” but let us go through
the bible and hear who it says is the saviour.
Now listen to marry talking;
“And mary said, my soul doth
magnify the lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my saviour”
Luke 1:46-47
Mary
is saying that God is her saviour, if Jesus were the saviour. She would have
said so.
“And, behold, one come and said unto him
good master, what good shalt I do that I may have eternal life? And he said
unto him, why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God;
But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments
Mathew 19:16- 17
The
questioner in this verse is asking Jesus that he should do not have eternal
life. And Jesus answered by telling him to abide by the commandments of the
lord, the creator.
This
clearly indicates that Jesus is not the savior, if was, he would have promised
the fellow eternal life instead of admonishing him to follow the commandments
of god more importantly he rejected being addressed as God, because only God is
Good.
“
you are my witness said the lord, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye
may know that believe me, and understand that I am he; before me there was no
God formed, neither there be after me. I even I, am the lord; and beside me
there is no saviour”
Isaiah 43:10-11
“For
I am the Lord the God, the holy one of Israel, the saviour”
Isaiah 43:3
In
those verses there is no doubt God is saying in clear term that he is the one,
besides him there is no other God. And that he is the saviour. Now let us once
again listen to the words of God.
“
I am the lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of
the house of bondage, thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not
make unto thee any given image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven
above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them; for I the God I am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and the fourth generation of them
what is hate me”.
Exodus 20:2-5
If
the present day Christians are true Christians then this verses alone are
enough to make them embrace Islam because that is basically the pivot of the
religion Islam.
Allah is saying that he is the God, the
lord, nothing should be associated to him whether in the heaven or on the
earth, and none should be worshipped but he alone.
But
it is rather surprising to find the church today preaching the principle of
trinity, curving out staves and comparing such statues with God and even go the
external of bowing to them. Other relevant verses are Mathew 4:10 and Isaiah
40:18.
JESUS LAST DIALOGUES
This
very touching farewell scene which contains Jesus spiritual testament, is
entirely absent from the book of Mathew, mark and luke. John is the only
evangelist to report the episode of the last dialogue with the apostles. How
can the absence of this discrimination be explained.
One is tempted to ask the following
questions; did the test initially exist in the first three Gospels? Was it
subsequently suppressed? If yes, then why?
It must be stated immediately that no
answer can be found; the mystery surrounding this huge gap remain obscure as
ever.
The
dominating feature of this narration is the view of mans future that jesusdescribe, his care in addressing
his disciples, and through them the whole of humanity, ‘His’ recommendations
and commandments and his concern to specify who the quide is definitely to be at man must follow after his departure.
The text of Johns gospel is the only one to
designate him as “PARAKLETOS” in the
Greek, which in English has become “PARACLETE” that is the comported. The
following are the essentials passage;
“
if you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will pray the father, and
he will give you another paraclete (comforter). Johns Gospel explains the
meaning of paraclete( the comforter as follows)
“but
the comforter, which is the holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name he
shall teach you all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto
you”
John 14:26
“But
when the comforter is coming whom I will send unto you from the father, he said
he shall testify of me”
John 15:26
It
is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the comforter
will not come to you; but if I go; I will send him to you. And when he comes,
he will convince the world of sin and righteousness and off judgement.
John 16:7-8
When
the spirt of truth comes he will not speak on his own authority but whatsoever
he hear he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
He will glorify me.
John 16:13-14
A
tricot I his little dictionary of the new writes in part that paracelete was
tern in current usage among the hellemist fews, first century AD meaning
intercessor, “ defender ” Jesus predicts that the spirit will be sent by the
father and son. Its mission will be to take the place of the son in the role he
played during his mortal life as a helper for the benefit of his disciples.
The spirit will intervene and act as a
substitute for Christ, adopting the role of comforter or omnipotent
intercessor.
The
commentary therefore make the holy spirit into the ultimate guide of man after
Jesus’s depature.
How does it square with John’s text? It is a
necessary question because a PRIORITY it seems strange to ascribe the last
paragraph quotated above to the holy spirit; “for he will not speak on his own
authority, but whatsoever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you
the things that are to come. It seems inconceivable that one could ascribe to
the Holy Spirit the ability to speak and DE clear whatsoever he hears”
Logic
demands that this question be raised. It is usually not the subject of
commentaries. To gain an exact idea of the problem, one has to go back to the
basic Greek instead of another language.
It is confirmed moreover, by another text
from the some evangelist, the first letter where John uses the same word
“PARACLETE” (comforter) simply to mean Jesus. The intercessor at God’s side.
According to John, when Jesus says “And will
pray to the father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide
with you forever”
John14:16
“And I will pray to the father, and he will give you another comforter, what
Jesus is saying is that “ANOTHER” intercessor will be sent to man, as he himself
was of Gods side on man’s behalf during his earthly life.
Thus one is brought to see in John’s
comforter a human being life Jesus, possessing the faculties of hearing and
speech formally implied in John’s Greek text.
Jesus therefore prechicts that God will later
send a human being to earth to take up the role defined by John, that is to be
a prophet who hear Gods word and repeat his message to man.
This is the logical interpretation of John’s
text arrived at if one attributes to the words their meanings.
The presence of the term “HOLY SPIRIT” in
today’s text could easily have come from a letter addition made guide
deliberately. It may have been intended to change the original meaning which
preelicted the advent of a prophet subsequently to Jesus and was therefore in
contradiction with the teachings maintained that Jesus was the last of the
prophet. This the present day Christians are made to belief the questions which
the churches did not still answer is who this comforter is.
JESUS
A PROPHET TO THE WORLD OR A PROPHET TO ISREAL
The Christians believed that Jesus was sent to
save whole world. The Bible speaks about to whom Jesus was send. Now let us
read the Bible.
And Jesus went away from there and withdrew
to the district of type and sidon. And behold a Canaanite woman from that
religion came out and cried. ‘have mercy on me, o lord, son of David; my
daughter is severely possessed by a demon. But he did not answered a word. And
his disciples come and begged him, saying ‘send her away, for she is crying
after us’. He answered “ I was send only to the lost sheep of Isreal.
Mathew 15:21-24
When
Jesus was dispatching his twelve (12) chosen disciples to go out and spread the
Gospel he instructed them to avoid going into non- Israelite to end.
Mathew reports
“these
twelve jews sent out charing them, go nowhere among the gentiles (that is
non-jews), and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep
of the house of Israel”
Mathew 10:5-6
Jesus
said to them; “Truly I say to you, in the new world, when the son of man shall
sit on his glorious throne, you have followed me will also sit on twelve
thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel”
Mathew 19:28
in
which throne will the present day Assian, Europeans or the African Christian
sit in the new world? The answer is none because Jesus was not sent to
them-than why the intruding.
The
claim that Jesus Christ is redeemer of the world from sins is rebutted by his
own categorical statement recorded in the gospel according to john.
In
prayer to God he declares his own limitation consistent with the general spirit
of his mission.
“I
pray for them : I pray not for the world, but for them which thou last given
me; for then are thine.
John 17:9
If we allow ourselves to judge from
the statement of Jesus as reported by Mathew and mark that he was sent only to
the lost sheep of isreal, and his clear instruction to his disciples that they
should go nowhere among non-Jews, but rather to the lost sheep of the house of
Israel and his prophecy that he and his twelve disciple would be judging the
twelve tribe of Israel in the hereafter, we would not be wrong to conclude that
the people referred to be in Jesus, prayer quated above must be the same. The
Israelites.
It is a historical fact that Christianity
was not preached to non-Jews until after the conversion of pual. It was him who
insisted on doing that in the face of strong opposition from the chosen apostle
of Jesus. They regard such action as violation of the explicit instructions and
practice of the master.
The church’s alleged authority to
propagate Christianity to non-Jaws (apart from pual’s assertion) derives from
the following of the Gospel:
“Go
therefore and make disciple of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all
thing what so ever I have commanded you; and do, I am with you always even unto
the end of the world”
Other
relevant verse are, Luke 24:47, Mark 16:15-16. The above verse refer not to the
historical Jesus when he Lived, preached and walked with his disciples. They
refer to the “RISEN” Christ after the so called Resurrection when he approach
to the chosen few. It is know that among the four gospel which are in the
Bible, the earliest to be written later being based on Mark, but with
establishments added according to the writer testes. It is known that also that
the whole passage in mark about Jesus rising from dead. Which includes the
instruction, contradicting all his previous onecs of preaching Christianity to
non-Jews is a later addition. More so if we put this argument aside, how do
this last verses compare with the previous ones quated indicating clearly that
Jesus was only for the Israelites? Why should such a contradiction arise is the
question that should bother the mnd?
APPEARANCE OF JESUS RAISED FROM THE
DEAD
O.
Gulman in his book, the new testament, note the contradiction between Luke and Mathew. The first situate Jesus
appearance in Judes, the second in Galilee.
One should also remember the like-john
contraction, john (21:1-14) relates an episode in which Jesus raised from the
dead appear to the fishermen beside the sea of Tiberian; they subsequently catch so many fish that they are unable to
bring them all in.
This is nothing other than a repetition
of the miracle catch of fish episode which took place at the same spot and was
also described by luke (5:1-11) as an event of Jesus lite
THE
BIBLE
As we earlier said in the introduction
the bible is at least 66 separate writing which have been bound together as one
book.
The bible has no internal claims of unity
nowhere does the bible sum itself up as totality God’s word the missionary
argument is that “Paul say that all scripture is inspired of God”.
